Gardening in the Spring sunshine

Do you remember those sunflower seeds we planted way back in Term 3?  Well, today we planted the seeds in the junior garden.  Our sunflower and legumes are really sprouting well.  We hope to see some lovely plants growing strong and tall in our junior gardens!

Te Reo Maori with Matua Dan

This week we began some Te Reo Maori classes with Matua Dan. We have been learning to count in Te Reo Maori to ten and are learning a new song. Lessons in Te Reo are really cool with Matua Dan.

BOOK WEEK Week 8

Last week our school had a very successful book week. We met the author/illustrator Nina Rycroft and shared afternoon tea with our parents. We listened to Lyn Krieglar an entertaining and colourful storyteller and we decorated masks to become "Mythical Beasts"

Featured author

This week is book week at Parnell District School. We are reading the storybook "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak. Maurice was born in 1928. He grew up in New York City in the United States of America. He loved drawing when he was young. At night he went to art school to study. Do you like drawing? When you are older perhaps you would like to be an author and illustrator of stories like Maurice Sendak.
